Old Bay Shrimp

Old Bay shrimp is a super simple snack and one of the easiest and fastest recipes to make, but it packs big taste! It’s also an impressive appetizer to serve for guests that will allow you to spend time with them, and not in the kitchen. An added bonus of cooking smaller portions is a small bill at the grocery. Without having to buy Old Bay or skewers, this dish costs around two dollars to make.

This recipe takes less than five minutes to cook and only has two ingredients, tastes out of this world, and is surprisingly healthy. Old Bay shrimp is not only keto friendly, it’s gluten free as well. This makes for a wonderful weeknight meal or snack, and you can easily double the amount of shrimp for additional serving. If you’re not using an air fryer, all of my recipes can also be made on a sheet pan in the oven.

  • While the air fryer is preheating, thaw, remove shells, and clean eight medium sized shrimp. Run water over wood skewers, and thread four shrimp per skewer. Sprinkle Old Bay seasoning on both sides of shrimp.

Notes

All air fryers cook at different speeds.  These recipes are meant to be a general guide.  Cooking times depend on various factors including thickness, cut, and type of meat used.  I use an Instant Pot Vortex Plus shelf air fryer.  If you’re using something different, especially a bucket type air fryer, I advise keeping an eye on food so it doesn’t under, or overcook.

  1. Do you have the calories and macros for your recipes? They all look delicious!

    1. LL, I do not…but, that’s really a great idea. I’m still figuring things out, so hopefully you’ll be able to see things improve quickly here. 😀

    Yum, that looks delicious!!

    1. Thanks!

  3. If using frozen cooked shrimp is the cook time the same? Thank you for all your terrific recipes that don’t make 8-10 servings.

    1. That’s a great question Ryan. To be perfectly honest, I’ve never tried it that way. My suggestion would be add the Old Bay, put them in and just keep a close eye on things. Since they’re already cooked, you’re basically just thawing them out and warming them up. Alternatively, you could run them under cold water first to thaw, and just reduce the cooking time. I’m sorry I don’t have the perfect answer for you on this one, but please let me know what you decide, and how it goes.

      1. I’m sorry for taking so long to get back with you. Your recipe does work for cooked frozen shrimp. I set the air fryer temp to 380 and added the shrimp for 5 minutes, no flip. Perfectly cooked with nice brown tops. I have an air fryer oven (28L) which is why I turned the heat to less than your recipe recommended and no flip. I’ve made this at least six times now and each time it comes out perfect. Thank you again!
