Should air fryer steak really be a thing? After trying all of these air fryer steak recipes, I can assure you that it should! Ribeye steaks were on sale a couple weeks back, so I purchased several to find out the optimal cooking method, and to test the results. Since then, I’ve been able to experiment with New York strips, as well as top sirloin. Six lucky pieces of beef, for each cut of meat were cooked at varying times, temperatures, and methods so you won’t have to ruin a perfectly good steak. Try this, and I promise you will not be disappointed!

This recipes takes less than an hour to assemble and cook, tastes out of this world, is surprisingly healthy, and not to mention gourmet. Steak is not only keto friendly, it’s gluten free as well. This makes for a wonderful weeknight meal for one, and you can easily double the amount of beef for a guest. If you’re not using an air fryer, all of my recipes can also be made on a sheet pan in the oven by adding 50 degrees.

The air fryer is a great option for cooking steak, because the outside gets a good char while the inside does not overcook. You also don’t have to go outside to grill during hot, cold, or inclement weather. Another secret to these air fryer steak recipes is lining your drip pan with foil to make clean up a cinch.

There will be a wonderful and healthy side posted later today to go along with your perfect steak. Stay tuned!

Equipment

  • Air Fryer, or Oven (Add 50 Degrees)

Ingredients

  • 1 steak (ribeye, New York strip, or top sirloin) between three quarters and one pound each

Instructions

  • Take steak out of the refrigerator and season with salt and pepper.
  • Allow steaks to sit at room temperature for thirty minutes.
  • Preheat your air fryer or oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cook the steak on the highest shelf or closest to the source of heat.
  • Let the steak rest for half of the cooking time.

Notes

  • Ribeye ten minutes for medium rare, 12 minutes for medium, and 14 minutes for medium well.
  • New York strip 8 minutes for medium rare, 9 minutes for medium, and 10 minutes for medium well.
  • Top sirloin 5 minutes for medium rare, 6 minutes for medium, and 7 minutes for medium well (note, these steaks were thinner than the ribeye and New York strips).
All air fryers cook at different speeds.  These recipes are meant to be a general guide.  Cooking times depend on various factors including thickness, cut, and type of meat used.  I use an Instant Pot Vortex Plus shelf air fryer.  If you’re using something different, especially a bucket type air fryer, I advise keeping an eye on food so it doesn’t under, or overcook.
